Sad news for Flogging Molly fans: the Celtic punk band has canceled almost all of their 2025 shows due to a serious health issue facing lead singer Dave King.

“Our Fearless Leader”: Band Asks for Prayers

In an emotional Instagram post, the band announced that King is “currently battling a very serious health condition.” They asked for fans to respect his and his wife Bridget Regan’s privacy during this difficult time and to send “good thoughts or prayers” his way.

Salty Dog Cruise Still Afloat

While the band’s extensive tour has been canceled, there is a silver lining: their annual Salty Dog Cruise will still set sail as planned from February 17th to 22nd. The cruise, which departs from Miami and visits Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica, will feature 18 bands and members of Flogging Molly, all coming together to celebrate their music and their captain, Dave King.

From LA to the World: Flogging Molly’s Legacy

Flogging Molly, known for their high-energy live shows and infectious blend of punk rock and traditional Irish music, has been a mainstay in the music scene since their formation in Los Angeles in 1994. Their hits like “Requiem for a Dying Song,” “Float,” and “Don’t Shut ‘Em Down” have resonated with fans worldwide.

A History of Rock and Resilience

Before Flogging Molly, King fronted the English heavy metal band Fastway in the 1980s, showcasing his diverse musical background. His journey from heavy metal to Celtic punk is a testament to his passion and resilience, qualities that will undoubtedly serve him well during this challenging time.

Sending Strength and Support

As Dave King faces this health battle, the outpouring of support from fans and fellow musicians is a reminder of the power of music and community. We join the chorus of voices sending our best wishes and hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
